Road Trip

My husband and I went on a two week road trip throughout the Midwest with some friends. Some members of my family were a little worried that I would not be able to stick to my healthy eating plan while on the road. I was determined and confident that I could do it. After all, I have been educated about the fine points of weight loss by Melanie and Dr. Krider.

I explained to my husband and friends to not worry about me when they chose a restaurant, because I knew what to order. My strategy was that if there was nothing on the menu that I could eat, I would just order a diet soda.

One day, we were in a very small town at lunchtime. We chose a little soup and sandwich cafe. Well, they were out of the only soup that I could eat, the salads were all very large, and I really didn't feel like eating a big sandwich. I checked out the list of sides and saw that I could order a side of cottage cheese (no sliced tomatoes or fresh fruit)--so, that's what I did. That cottage cheese was delicious! I savored every spoonful!

Besides making good food choices, I worked out in the exercise room of every hotel that had one with either my husband or my friend for company. We walked every day and we even toured a cave with 400 steps.
I weighed a couple of times on scales in the exercise rooms that had scales, but I was worried about their accuracy. At Wednesday's weigh-in, I was happy to find out that I had lost 4 pounds. That was great for me!

The Challenge is really getting tough and I think we are all feeling the stress of the competition. Although everyone is trying to keep it friendly, I know all of the contestants are fierce competitors.

By the way, Gary Gant--you were right about the kettle weights being a full body workout--my full body is feeling it all over.

I'll see all you losers in the weight-loss game on Wednesday!
